8TH GRADE · CHARGE AND ELECTRIC FIELD
Electrification, conductors and dielectrics
Two types of charge, electroscope and charge redistribution.
The entire theory of the lesson is collected here; you can read it without an account. In interactive mode, the same theory appears as cards, followed by questions. with checking the answer and task, and progress is saved.
Basic Concepts
Electrification
The process of appearance or redistribution of electric charge on bodies upon contact, friction or influence.
During friction, electrons transfer between materials, so the bodies receive charges of equal magnitude and opposite signs.
Two types of charge
Like electric charges repel, and opposite charges attract.
The positive and negative signs are arbitrary, but they allow us to unambiguously describe the interaction and transfer of electrons.
Conductors and dielectrics
In a conductor, charges can move throughout the body, but in a dielectric they are mainly displaced within atoms and molecules.
The metal rod quickly redistributes the charge, while the plastic handle helps insulate the conductor.
Physical quantities
Electric charge
A physical quantity that determines the electrical interaction of a body.
